Are your high school students bored with their regular vocabulary program? This game helps students review knowledge of college prep vocabulary through definitions, synonyms, antonyms, and sentence completions. It supplements your instruction for the Sadlier-Oxford Vocabulary Workshop, Common Core Enriched Edition ©2012–13, Level F, Unit 1. All that you will need is the ability to project a power point presentation, a ball (soft texture), some dark tape, and a trash can.
In this game, there are four rounds. In round one, the students simply identify the word for each definition. In round two, they identify the word for the provided synonyms while in round three they identify the word for the provided antonyms. In round four, they must complete each sentence with the appropriate vocabulary word. To differentiate, the teacher may want to provide the optional word bank for students needing additional support.

Research shows that students often learn best when they can move, and this game motivates them with their love of sports. When you put your students in heterogeneous groups for a game with friendly competition, it is an excellent way to meet the needs of all of your students and reward them for their success.
