Friday fiction for Friday fun! If your class sometimes suffers from Friday fatigue, this could be your answer. Students take each other on a safari of their imagination.
Collaborative stories encourage creativity as well as teamwork. Each template contains 3 visual story starters. Students combine those 3 story elements and add details to create their own story.
Logistics? You can post the Google Docs as assignments to your Google Classroom. If you want, create your own template of instructions as to word count, number of sentences, etc. and send that with the assignment. For advanced students, you can also have students collaborate with Google research to enhance the assignment with some facts instead of "filler." Add story elements or swap stories for more variety and creativity. Instructions and ideas for expanding the stories are included with the product.
At a minimum, you can assign teams and have students pull up the Google Docs on their own – no prep is necessary. Don’t use teams in your classroom? Make this an individual assignment or "quiet" activity.
This activity will also provide an artifact for Element 3C of the Danielson framework by utilizing instructional groups and allowing students to create their own materials to enhance their learning.
12 visual story starters are provided and delivered in individual Google Docs. All students need to do is type or use Tools, Voice typing to dictate their story.
