These are some fun notes to promote and encourage students with their sight words. I use these throughout the year to celebrate growth in reading and to let the parents know how their kiddo is doing!
Use these little cards to send a quick message of encouragement to students. Each one comes in FOUR different versions. 2 versions in color and 2 versions in black and white. The black and white cards I usually print on colored paper OR alternately you can print them out as black and white and let the kids use them as a coloring sheet as a reward!
In this download, there are 7 different jungle animals that offer quick, easy sight word encouragement notes to give to students as they hit big benchmarks. They are 4 to a page so it won't take a ton of copies (I know paper is like gold).
These are the themes included in the packet:
Flamingos - 50 sight words
Gorillas - 100 sight words
Peacocks - 150 sight words
Elephants - 200 sight words
Hippos - 300 sight words
Lions - 400 sight words
Rhinos - 500 sight words
The cards go up to 500 BUT there are blank cards for each animal so if you want to start with smaller goals for a particular student (say they FINALLY learn those first 20 you can fill in that number on the blank) OR if you have a student that learns more than 500 you can fill in those blank cards!
I believe there is tremendous power in encouragement, and the rapport it builds with students is incredible. I needed a system that was quick and easy to write students notes, but that looked a little cuter than a boring letter home! I hope these help you to build a positive classroom, encourage their reading, and celebrate the growth and gains they have made!
Please leave feedback and teach on :)
