Product Description

These health lessons help students learn about a variety of situations including recreational activities, transportation, poison symbols, staying home alone, basic First Aid, preventing injuries, contacting emergency services, emergency preparedness and being safe online through writing, drawing, role playing, group work, and collaborating with classmates in a positive and supportive atmosphere.

Each of the lessons range from 30-60 minutes and have modifications for reinforcement and extensions without spending extra time preparing the lessons. Lessons take less than 10 minute to prepare. The lessons can be used throughout the year and over and over again with different groups of children.

Assessments for the lessons are included and the unit ends with several review/assessment activities. Answer keys and student examples are included when possible.

Online Safety

Planes, Trains and Automobiles (Transportation Safety)

Recreational Activity Safety

Staying Home Alone/Babysitting

Personal Boundaries

Injury Prevention and Basic First Aid

Emergency Preparedness

These lessons have been tested multiple times with students as young as third grade and as old as sixth. Students enjoy creating and using a common language when talking to their peers about safety.

These lessons were designed to align with the Alberta Program of Studies for health for grades three through six, but they are general enough to be used in any elementary health classroom.

It meets most of the requirements for the Ontario Health Curriculum and British Columbia Physical and Health Education competencies.
