I plan to use this in my classroom this year to better track students’ progress with sight word fluency. My students will be tested on a set of words twice a week.. After being tested, I will circle any of the words they missed & have the student cut only the missed words out to practice at home. They will then be tested again later in the week to see if they have mastered the list. If they have, they will be able to move their pirate closer to the treasure chest and hop on the next island. If not, they will need to continue practicing at home. I have found students are more engaged when they can monitor their own progress.
Lists 1-10 are Fry’s first 100 words. Lists 11-16 are about half of Fry’s second 100 words.
