Product Description
Salem Witch Trails of 1692

The Salem witch trials were a time of great turmoil in American history. People accused each other of being witches with little or no evidence, and many were hanged as a result. Though personal documents regarding convicted witches were destroyed, most of the court documents were kept in tact. This lesson gets students analyzing and synthesizing those primary, historical court documents to discover information regarding people accused of witchcraft in Salem and neighboring villages.

This lesson includes teacher instructions, an instruction sheet for students to follow that explains everything, and a 2-page graphic organizer for students to record accusers, witnesses, charges, and evidence in specific cases. In addition, the handout also contains questions at the end that requires students to draw conclusions from their research.

This is a great way to challenge students' thinking while engaging them with primary historical documents. Everything is ready to print and go!
