To study the causes and major events of the witchcraft hysteria in Salem, Massachusetts, in the 1690s.
1-2 class periods
This activity is fun to do because it includes three word search puzzles for the students. Class members learn about the Salem witchcraft trials by finding and circling key words, names, and terms on the puzzles. These words, names, and terms will then be inserted in spaces that complete the sentences in a story about the witchcraft trials.
At the end of the lesson, assign the five Thought Questions and discuss student responses. This helps develop critical thinking skills.
Easy-to-follow Teacher Instructions and answer key included.
