To study the causes and major events of the witchcraft hysteria in Salem, Massachusetts, in the 1690s.
1-2 class periods
This fun activity includes three word search puzzles for the students. Class members learn about the Salem witchcraft trials by finding and circling key words, names, and terms on the puzzles. These words, names, and terms will then be inserted in spaces that complete the sentences in a story about the witchcraft trials.
The lesson concludes with five Thought Questions, which help develop critical thinking skills. Student responses can be discussed afterwards.
Easy-to-follow Teacher Instructions and answer key included.
