Do you love reading aloud to your primary students? We do too! It is one of my favorite times of the day. This read-aloud pack is unique in that it holds on to the tradition of reading-aloud for pleasure, but also helps you meet core standards at the same time. We have included rigorous text dependent questions where students use evidence from the text to deepen their understanding of the story. We have also included a graphic organizer and writing in response to text activity to incorporate writing standards. This pack also includes an art piece to compliment the read-aloud.
Our lesson plans will guide you through 3 days of close reading. Each day you will read the book for a different purpose and students will complete a different activity.
This pack includes:
- Detailed Lesson Plan with Photographs
-Text Dependent Questions
- Beginning, Middle, End Graphic Organizer
-Compare Text to Illustrations Graphic Organizer
-Writing in Response to Text
To teach these lessons you will need:
Sam and Dave Dig a Hole by Mac Barnett
Our buyers say:
"Love this story. The ideas were very fun. Thanks."
"While I did not use the whole unit, (as a librarian with limited time it was not practical for me) it did give me some great ideas and led to a fabulous lesson with students in grades 1,2 and 3."
