So often when students move from one country to another they feel like everything is different. It is easy to feel out of place when you don’t understand the language or the culture of a new land. This book documents a conversation between elementary pen pals, Elliot from America and Kailash from India. The students send each other drawings of their home along with a statement or question. Throughout their correspondence, the children note that there are many ways that they are different yet the same.
This download contains a template for students to complete their own version of this story. Depending on literacy level, students can simply draw pictures. More advanced students can either label or add details. There is also a poem included to wrap up the lesson.
