Sort The Corn:
CCS: Demonstrate understanding of the organization and basic features of print.
Directions: Students will look at the corn. They will decide if the letter is a vowel or not. They will then sort them and record their answers.
CCS: Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words. (c) Read common high-frequency words by sight (e.g., the, of, to, you, she, my, is, are, do, does).
Directions: Read the word on the scarecrow. Then stamp the word beside the number that appears on the card.
CCS: Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes) (d) Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words.
Directions: Students will pick a pumpkin and sound out the word. Students will listen for the middle sound and record it on their worksheet.
