I find that providing exemplars for students to refer to when completing any type of assignment, especially writing, is helpful for many students because it provides something to refer back to when you, the instructor, is not available to assist.
As part of the research process, students typically complete an annotated research review. In order to assist my students with understanding what what comprises a comprehensive annotated research review, I drafted a sample using two articles following the guidelines set forth for my students:
-provide a summary of the article
-provide a reaction or response based on the content (NOT a personal opinion)
-provide a short excerpt from the article and explain how it applies to the reaction or response drafted above
-provide a minimum of two vocabulary terms from the article that are either new to you or are of significant importance to your topic; define theme; explain how their definitions relate to your research topic
