I was thrilled to discover that our Northern Nevada Writing Project had spent this past summer (2015) working with Amazon to make available--once again--four of the six print guides that were created during the years that I served as Director of that organization.
Between 2004 and 2008, my co-Director (Jodie Black) and I divvied portions of our organization's budget to sponsor the creation and distribution of six pretty decent print guides to better writing instruction in our area. The guides were created by collaborating teachers, and they were crafted to be tools that would inspire collaborative groups (PLC's) to talk, to plan, and to advance their practices in certain areas when teaching writing well.
After I left the NNWP directorship to pursue other opportunities, there was talk of creating further guides, but--alas!--my final project--2009's "Show Me Your Story" Guide for Narrative Writing--was the last new print resource created by our NNWP. Unfortunately, that's not one of the six guides available at Amazon.
As said above, I was thrilled to discover this past summer (2015) that 4 of those 6 guides created while Jodie and I shared the directorship of NNWP have been posted at Amazon, and I know any money earned from these sales will greatly improve the NNWP's chances of being able to produce new materials in this Common Core era of writing instruction.
I have provided for you here a sampling of and access to a small portion of the materials my wife--Dena--and I contributed to three of the six guides. Our hope in sharing these is that you are inspired to purchase an entire resource at Amazon so that the NNWP can possibly re-establish its reputation as one of the best providers of innovative and research-backed ideas by using earned monies to create new resources for teachers.
Thanks for looking. If you like what I have shared here, kindly leave positive feedback and share the materials freely with your teaching colleagues. When I was Director of the NNWP, our philosophy was simple: Share, share, and share some more. Enjoy.
