This is the 1st lesson in a series of 3 lessons where students explore sampling distributions. This lesson includes an introductory activity. The students will take samples of the same size and explore the sampling distribution. After the activity, students will determine if number is a parameter or a statistic, they will identify the difference between a population distribution, sampling distribution, and a distribution of sample data. Students will decide if a statistic is an unbiased estimator. Last they will make connections between the size of a sample and the variability of a statistic.
