The year is 1603 and the new shogun, Tokugawa Ieyasu, has required that your students, experienced samurai, create a training manual booklet for young samurai to study before they become expert and well-trained samurai. Students will take on the perspective of a trained and experienced adult samurai in 1603. They will no longer be middle school students!
Students will research various aspects of the life and culture of the samurai including: (1) a brief history of the end of the Golden Age and the rise of the shogun and samurai, (2) weapons, (3) armor (4) mental training, (5) code of Bushido, (6) seppuku, (7) Zen Buddhism, (8) tea ceremony.
