This book is an electronic flip book, which means each page is set up like a movie frame. You need to scroll it at a steady pace to see the animation, and there are places where you are alerted to pause for calculations. Students go on a frame-by-frame road trip across the United States, and they calculate distance, time, and speed along the way. This does not require students to learn or know the distance formula, but it introduces the concepts behind the formula with a simplified approach.
The first section consists of the printables (duplicates of the mileage signs and the related questions). There’s also a rough map showing the relative locations of the cities in the book.*
For copyright reasons, I have not included an actual map of the United States. If you have an atlas, however, with a map showing the states and cities, it would be beneficial for you and your students to follow along with that as you progress through this book.
