The activities in this pack are designed to help you incorporate more sensory into your stations/learning. We know that there are many types of learners, and sensory play/learning definitely appeals to your kinesthetic students.
It seems as if there is less and less learning through play – even in Kindergarten. While high stakes testing often prevents us from offering ‘free play’ or any relaxed time in the classroom whatsoever, I find it even more crucial to find ways that students can still be kids and learn while engaging in high interest, sensory activities.
As an educator who has previously taught preschool, Jr. Kindergarten, and Kindergarten, I miss all of the sensory play/learning that I incorporated into those classrooms. If I miss it, I am certain my first graders do, too. Sand is an easy material that can last all year in something as simple as a rubbermaid tote.
