A hand bell activity your students will never forget! Hand bells are a fun, beautiful, easy instrument that students of any age can master. Throw in some Christmas music and this activity is sure to be a crowd pleaser!
The color coded portion of this file is intended for use with Kidsplay 8 note Diatonic hand bells. The note colors are coordinated with the color of the same-tone bell. If you have hand bells of a different color, I recommend adding a piece of colored tape or sticker to match the color on the music. Otherwise, you can use the non-color coded music and either color it in, or teach your students to match their bell to its corresponding note/letter name.
Santa Claus is Coming to Town uses the notes Middle C-High C. This music was written with the following notes and rests: quarter notes, quarter rests, eighth notes, and whole notes. Teaching students a basic background on how these notes are counted will be helpful but not necessary if they are familiar with the rhythm of the song. I have omitted half notes, single eighth notes, and dotted half notes for ease of use with beginners and young students. As such, the rhythm may seem slightly different than what is usually heard.
Enjoy sharing the fun and joy of playing hand bells with your students of all ages and please check out my ever-growing selection of hand bell music!
