My students absolutely love this project! I start with a post card from Santa that introduces students to their mission: figuring out the missing information on the rest stop chart that Santa will use as he travels around the world on Christmas Eve. He needs to make 15 rest stops throughout the night, but there are missing names and coordinates. Have your students investigate with Google Earth or the provided posters to find the missing information. Students will then create an itinerary for Santa to use that creates the most efficient flight path for the night. Then, have students do more research on a site they were interested in. Hang their research around your room on the provided ornaments or take it a step further and make salt dough ornaments for a Geogratree this season!
