This reader's theater was written for a small group of 4 students for Christmas. In the script, there is a very selfish and sneaky man who won’t even be good at Christmas and so Santa has decided to teach him a lesson. He offers him a box that has everything in it he needs to be happy for the rest of his life. Santa tells the man that, in order to earn it, for the next two weeks the Sneak must be nice, work hard, take turns, and not play any tricks. When the Selfish Sneak does everything Santa asks he manages to make friends for the first time in his life and becomes truly happy and THAT is the present Santa gives him. The lesson the man learns is what people truly need to be happy. At the bottom of the script is a quick write about selfish people. I write reader's theaters because I find them to be an excellent way to motivate all readers, including reluctant ones, to practice fluency. I write small group scripts because the ONLY way reader's theater works is when there is very little wait time. In scripts with lots of characters, students spend time off-task or waiting to read this does not help them become fluent. My scripts are mostly black and white so that they can be reproduced on a copier easier and with less ink. My name is Melanie Whitesides but my store name is Wonbyone and I hope that your students enjoy this script as much as mine did. If you are looking for more scripts for your small groups please visit my store. Thank you!
