Engage your students in learning about economics and math at the same time! This ten day math/economy unit starts with a letter from Santa asking students to help him make a workshop for the North Pole. Students will physically build a workshop as a team and will learn how to continue to work as a team to make tough economical decisions to keep their workshop in business! The math required for students to complete this unit is the ability to add and subtract numbers (in the tens and hundreds) daily to see how much money they have earned. This simulation challenges students to think critically about tough decisions. This engaging unit has everything you need to quickly and easily implement project based learning in your math classroom. There are minimal copies necessary to make this unit run smoothly. This unit was designed for second and third graders, but would be great review for fourth graders.
