PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

What's for dinner? This is a great unit for a senior composition or university basic level composition course. It blends Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal," with a humorous Colbert Report segment on the "dangers" of feeding the homeless.

The unit further discusses the issue of hunger in America with a popular essay about Lars Eighner's lifestyle as a dumpster diver. I then show two short fantastic videos: a segment following Freegans (dumpster divers who scavenge in partly in protest), and then a parody of Freeganism from PORTLANDIA.

This unit was really effective with students--led to my best discussions on Swift's "A Modest Proposal" and satire.

ENJOY!
