Product Description
Using the first chapter of the Harvard Lampoon's Nightlight (A satirical approach to retelling Meyer's Twilight), this PowerPoint teaches the difference between Satire and Parody. Various slides explain the concepts and purpose behind satire and parody. The teacher will then pause and read Chapter One of Nightlight with the students. The first chapter is available for free through various websites. The PowerPoint then asks several discussion questions, ending in an assignment in which students compose their own satirical version of a Chapter from Twilight or Eclipse. I taught both books. Loaded with images, my students enjoyed the presentation and loved the writing assignment.
