Flannel boards may seem a little old fashioned, but I have always had a few kids in every class that just loved them. They used them to retell stories they had heard, to make up their own stories, to make words using flannel letters, make math problems using flannel numbers, and to share what they had learned with the class. Now that most of us have magnetic white boards in our classrooms, the fun is expanded using magnetic paper. Kids love manipulating magnetic figures, and in a classroom there is no end of places to put them—on file cabinets, on the white board, even cookie sheets make wonderful portable, and cheap magnetic surfaces. Whether magnetic or flannel, your kids will have fun learning more about the African savanna as they play with these colorful, realistic images. Public domain images have been used in this product.
