Product Description
Build a savanna—right in your own classroom—using butcher paper, construction paper, cutouts (included) and silk plants. Then stock your “savanna” with reading materials, games, and manipulatives that your students can use to explore this amazing biome. Classroom volunteers can help you create artifacts with which your students can interact, independently, in small groups, or with a parent volunteer, now and for years to come. There is a lot of preparation required at first, but once it’s done—it’s done! The materials can also be used to teach a variety of common core language arts and research skills. Items included are

Newsletter you can send home 1-2 months before starting the unit to solicit help from classroom volunteers in printing and making the items, and to help you gather materials and resources for your museum.

Mural directions and animal cut-outs to help you create a backdrop for your mini-museum. Student work looks great displayed here as well. Grades PS-5

Reading / Coloring pages (4 reading levels) help students learn more about animals of the savanna. Grades PS-5

Display Cards (4 reading levels) are patterned after museum display plagues which describe exhibited items. These correlate with the mural animal cutouts. Grades PS-5

Puppet / Masks show faces of a variety of savanna animals. Information (3 reading levels) may be printed on the back for student research. Grades K-5

Plant and Animal Sorting Mats and Cards (3 levels) help students learn complex information about life on the savanna. Grades K-5, easily adapted for PS

What’s It Called details the bizarre group names of 23 savanna animals. They may be made as puzzles, bookmarks, or stapled into a booklet. Grades 2-5

Animal Families Matching Puzzles help students learn the gender names for 15 animal families. They may also be made as a booklet. Grades PS-1

Flannel / Magnetic Board Cutouts allow students to recreate learning, invent stories, and present reports to others. Grades PS-2+
