This multi-day unit will have your kids so excited about learning on the last few days before Winter Break! Jack Frost is tired of being forgotten during the holidays and he has sabotaged the North Pole! Santa and his elves are bust and they need your student's help to SAVE CHRISTMAS! Activities include:
Students will use their inferencing skills and creativity to design a unique sweater for each elf.
Tree Decorating Fiasco
Students will decorate the Christmas tree and then use their totals to graph the ornaments, write about their data and subtract across zeros to determine the missing number of ornaments.
Context Clue Gift Wrapping
After reading a letter written to Santa, students will determine the meaning of each word using the context clues provided. In addition, students will also identify the part of speech.
Christmas Card Figurative Language
Students will write a figurative language phrase for the snowman holiday card.
Students will identify the U.S. major mountain ranges and rivers to help Santa with his American route.
Jingle Bell STEM
See if students can silence their jingle bell!
Organize the Reindeer Barn
Using the information provided for each reindeer. Students will create a stall based on on the area specifications.
Cookie Recipe Mix Up
Students will use their multiplication and fraction skills to fix Mrs. Clause’s cookie troubles.
For a little artistic fun, Students will design and mold a snowman in their own likeness.
This project is the biggest event of the unit! Students will create their own circuit to light up the Christmas Lights!
These activities will take the course of two days. I like to ask parents for a small donation so all of the correct materials can be purchased for the activities. I have also included this letter.
