This download is a series of Christmas activity centers. There are several ways that you can have your students complete the challenges. One way is to set up the challenges as a rotation of centers. Another way is to have students complete one activity per day.
Your students will be presented with a problem and mission. Santa’s sleigh is broken, and their mission is to help him save Christmas. In order to do that, they have to complete a series of challenges. They will travel across the North Pole to different parts of Santa’s village. At each stop, they will have to complete a specific challenge in order to get their next clue. As they solve challenges, they will collect code words that they will enter into Santa’s computer.
For each station, you will be provided with:
- Teacher instructions
- Student instructions
- Station cover (to glue on top of envelope)
- Game & recording sheet
- Craft template
- “Good Job” letter
In this resource, you will find:
*A letter from Mrs. Claus stating the mission to be completed by students.
*Mrs. Claus’ Bakery Challenge:
Students will write three acts of kindness and create a gingerbread house.
*Candy Shop Challenge:
Students will sort the candies in the correct number bag (base ten blocks, addition, subtraction, and ten frames). Differentiated two ways: numbers from 1-20 and numbers from 1-100.
Students will solve math problems and place the reindeer in order. They will create a hat.
Differentiated two ways: basic addition and subtraction up to 20 and double-digit addition and subtraction without regrouping.
Students will solve riddles and glue the corresponding vocabulary words on the Christmas tree.
*Elves' Toy Shop:
Students will sort the toys and graph their results. They will figure out how many toys they are missing and make a toy bag. Differentiated two ways: numbers from 1-20 (using tally marks) and numbers from 1-100 (using tens and ones).
Students will read the story and write their own ending. They will create a mini-book.
Differentiated two ways: simple text and more complex text.
*Secret Word Cards:
Students will collect these word cards at the end of each challenge to create a secret message that will fix Santa’s computer.
*Secret Message Computer:
The teacher will type the SECRET MESSAGE into the “computer” (pdf file) and be redirected to a THANK YOU video from Santa!
*A letter from Santa thanking students for completing the mission and SAVING CHRISTMAS!
Students will keep track of each challenge that they complete.
*Classified Information Folder Cover Sheet:
Students will place their completed work in this folder.
*3 Christmas themed Brain Break Videos (Tree Trimming, Building a Snowman, and Gift Wrapping). Kids will sing and dance to Christmas music while reading vocabulary words that appear on the screen.
