For this center, you will give each student a stack of cards with the letter sounds you have taught or want them to focus on. They will also need a bucket of clothespins to clip to the beginning letter sound of the picture. Students should choose a card, say the name of the picture on the card, and identify the beginning sound in the word. After identifying the beginning sound, the student will take a clothespin and clip it to the letter that makes that sound.
** After students have practiced and mastered their sounds, it would be fun to set a minute timer to see how many cards they can finish in that amount of time.
This is perfect for literacy centers, but can also be pulled for intervention or if the class needs more practice with a particular sound. There are three different picture cards for each letter A-Z. Directions are included.
