My students LOVE this game. They ask for it all the time.
Print cover cards on p. 3 on the back of pp. 4 - 16 (optional). Laminate and cut cards.
Shuffle cards. Lay 3 cards face up on the table and place the remainder of the cards in a draw pile.
Students take turns drawing a card and reading the sentence. If all the /s/ sounds are correct, the student checks for a match to one of the cards on the table, then places it just below the matching card. If there is no match, the card is placed in a line with the other face up cards.
When a third matching card is placed on the table, that student takes the pack and places it face down in front of him/her.
If a “Say So” card is drawn, the student places it on top of one of the other player’s face down sets of three. The student has to say exactly what is on those cards. If the guess is correct, he/she takes the set and adds it to his/her sets. If the guess is incorrect, the “Say So” card is discarded, and the play moves to the next player.
The game progresses until there are no more draw cards. The player with the most sets of 3 wins.
