This reading log packet is intended to be used for interactive reading logs for the entire year! The scaffold approach will allow students to build on their knowledge as they grow as readers. It will also help them prepare for state standardized assessments.
First 9 Weeks:
Each week a reading log should be pasted into the student reading log notebook and completed by the student Monday-Thursday. Simply read 30 minutes, write title, author, page numbers read, & parent initials.
Second 9 Weeks:
The choice board should be pasted into student reading log notebooks. They should respond each night (Monday-Thursday) to one of the choice board options. Record responses in interactive reading log journal.
Third 9 Weeks:
The fiction/non-fiction writing prompts should be pasted into student reading log notebooks. They should respond each night (Monday-Thursday) to one of the choices in their interactive reading log journals. Students should write a minimum of 4 sentences for each response.
Fourth 9 Weeks:
Each week the traditional reading log should be pasted into the student reading log notebook and completed by the student 3 times a week. One night a week students should respond to one of the questions from the choice board in the RACE strategy format. This will allow students to practice for state standardized assessments.
There is a blank choice board of questions if the teacher would like to input their own.
