Provide students with a scaffolded close read about the historic case of Dred Scott v Sandford that took place in pre-Civil War America. Multiple questions are asked that require students to synthesize information from the article. They finish the activity with an extended response that requires them to analyze the Supreme Court's decision and its consequences.
