I have found that some students are not ready for the challenges of AP Language. When provided multiple choice questions, they are overwhelmed by the complexity of the language and the complexity of the questions.
Early in the year, or as part of pre-AP, it helps to give students during reading questions to support their comprehension.
As the year goes on, questions can be removed as students learn to read actively and think about the common question types.
The AP Language passage, questions, and answer keys are included with my scaffolded questions.
