Do your students struggle with key signatures? Do they fly through their scale patterns, but have a hard time naming the notes they are playing? Do you need a fun way to reinforce their scale and key signature knowledge?

This fun musical board game drills key signatures, scales, fingering, chords, and arpeggios in all major keys.I noticed this spring that while my students could play their scales with ease, they struggled with verbalizing the pattern or connecting scales to the key signatures in their pieces. Dragon Scales helps students use all the major learning styles as they play, teach, verbalize, and draw scales and key signatures, all while playing an engaging board game. The board is open ended, allowing you to mix and match the perfect level of cards for your student, whether you need to review one scale or the whole circle of fifths! Click on the preview button above to see the questions in more detail.

This game has a been a major success in my studio! My students have been begging to play it again and again!

Game Instructions:
Set the board game in front of your students and then sort the dragon cards by color. Place the stack of cards next to their matching dragon (i.e. blue cards by the blue dragon, red cards by the red dragon etc.) The players pick a game token and place them on a dragon of their choice to start. The players do not have to start on the same dragon, but can be spread throughout the board.

To play, the player rolls the dice and moves that many spaces. If they land on a dragon egg, they pick up the matching dragon card (i.e. blue egg, pick up a blue dragon card). They answer the question, and then the card belongs to them. If they land on a dragon, they can steal a dragon card of their choice from another player. The goal is to collect all six dragons. The first one to get a dragon of every color wins the game!
