Time for the Scarecrows! This project is a great way for students to experience six different genres of writing. Because they are all focused on a scarecrow theme, students experience the unique characterizes of each genre.
The Scarecrow Writing Genre Project covers six genres of writing;
narrative (fantasy, scarecrow comes to life)
functional (directions for making a scarecrow)
functional (letter to a friend about the school fall festival)
persuasive (contest entry for best scarecrow at the festival)
poetry (cinquain poem about a scarecrow)
informative (newsletter article about scarecrows from different cultures, notecards with bulleted facts are included)
