Scarecrow Unit Aligned to Kindergarten Common Core Standards. this pack includes:

*Silly Willy Scarecrow story: Read aloud story. The scarecrow makes the sounds of the alphabet to scare silly things away like ants, underwear and queens!

*Silly Will Scarecrow Class Story: Have your class make up their own Silly Willy Scarecrow story!

*Label the scarecrow (2 options): Student decide which words to cut/paste to match the correct parts of the scarecrow or students sound out the words to label the scarecrow.

*Color/Writing Activity: Scarecrow color or paint page and 3 cut/paste sentences to describe the scarecrow they colored.

*Emergent Reader: Scarecrow’s Friends

*Writing Activity: Read several scarecrow books to the kids and have them pick their favorite story to write about & illustrate.

*Story Maps (3 options): Story map for Littlest Scarecrow Boy and The Scarecrow’s Hat (can either have students draw pictures or cut/paste pictures into correct boxes). Also a blank story map in case you want to story map a different scarecrow story.

*Math Center: Help the farmer get to the scarecrow. Print a game board for each player. Players each roll a dice and the player with the greater number gets to put the corn (or candy corn) pieces on their leaves. The player that gets all the leaves covered from the farmer to the scarecrow first is the winner. Can also play where the player with the least dots gets to put corn on their leaves.

*Literacy Center (2 options): Use picture cards to indentify beginning or ending sounds and cover the corresponding letter on their recording sheet.

*Classroom Management Component: Poems to get kids quiet quickly or ready for the hall, etc.

*Pocket Chart Activity: Use your student’s name in this poem where the first sound of your student’s names becomes the sound the scarecrow makes!
