I am so excited to share my Scaredy Squirrel unit with you. A few months ago, I had never read a Scaredy Squirrel books. One of my students checked one out of the library and asked if I would read it to the class. We were immediately hooked! I then checked out three more books and we decided that we would do a book study on Scaredy Squirrel by Melanie Watt. I cannot tell you enough how much FUN this was!
We focused our unit on four books (Scaredy Squirrel, Scaredy Squirrel goes camping, Scaredy Squirrel at the beach, & Scaredy Squirrel makes a friend) but there are several more that I intend to add printables for in the future. Next year, Scaredy Squirrel will play an important role in my classroom.
These books cover so many areas of learning. Each book includes great examples of maps, lists, timelines, creating charts, etc. SS books are also great examples of being afraid, scared, and worried. This funny little squirrel overcomes many fears in a very comical way. I hope your class has as much fun with this unit as we did! I WILL ADD MUCH MORE THIS SUMMER so stay tuned and make sure you redownload. :)
This set includes printables for sequencing, character traits, building timelines and maps, making lists and charts, etc. This is great for a book study but also to include social studies objectives in such a fun way!
