Scary Good Writing Tool 6: Metaphors and Similes.
This lesson teaches the metaphor and simile to begin to develop a young writer’s unique writing voice. This lesson once again employs our old friends the five senses to help students take an abstract concept like happiness and create concrete images using similes to compare. Then we show how to convert the similes into metaphors to compose a poem.
"I liked its simplicity. my kids liked the characters and it made writing fun." - Justin Greene, John F. Kennedy Middle School
