A simple two-side Halloween-themed graphic organizer to use after reading any combination of scary stories.

In the first part, students list features that scary stories have in common. They do this inside the pumpkin. A graphic of a pie defines the word "analysis". (For example a creepy setting, or mood of dread).

Next, they use these ingredients to write a paragraph on the second side. They are reminded to use a topic sentence, details sentences and a concluding sentence.

Combine with the paragraph-writing rubric of your choice (not included).

The language of the handout is kept simple.
