Product Description
Have you seen the preview??

My kids ♥ loved ♥ this activity and ✭ approved of it ✭. Hopefully yours will find it enjoyable and helpful as well :-) In some classes I ran this activity in class while in others I assigned it at home as a homework. In both cases, students ❤ LOVED ❤ it.

In Classroom Scavenger Hunt OPTION

In the classroom version, this activity will allow students to move around the room. There are 16 cards with 16 different problems assessing the understanding of Solving Exponential Functions using Common Base LEVEL 1.

In this hunt, students should feel comfortable with::

☑ Using the Distributive Property
☑ Solving One-Step, and Two-Step, linear equations.
☑ Finding the common base of two different values (ex. Common base of 27 and 81 is 3, common base of 16 and 64 is 2 or 4, common base of 243 and 125 is 5, .... and so on)

There are several Scavenger Hunts on the way focusing on solving Exponential and Logarithmic Functions. As I teach different level of students, there will be different levels of scavenger hunts offered in this area. Here is an initial list of the hunts:

LEVEL 1 Solve using Common Base. Base is always an integer (no need to use the negative exponent property)
LEVEL 2 Solve using Common Base. Base is sometimes a fraction which requires using the negative exponent property.
LEVEL 3 A mixture of questions from version 1 and 2 in addition to solve using Logarithms. Log has to be taken of both sides and students are required to use a calculator.

♥ ♥ Please take a look at the preview to see what type of questions this product focuses on before purchasing. I truly hope that you find this product beneficial to your students. My Algebra II students loved it as it engaged them in so many GREAT conversations. ♥ ♥

This activity maybe used as a review before an assessment on this concept. Students will feel better after this activity as they understand the concept better while working as a team.

How to play?

After you assign the first card, students will locate the card around the room and answer the question on the card. Then, after solving the question with their partner (or group or individually), student will find the answer as it is placed on another card around the room. Then, student will answer the question on that card repeating the process. Students will utilize the Scavenger Hunt Answer form to keep a record of their answers as well as their sequence. I will strongly encourage that student show work and attach it to the answer form.

I have attached a visual organizer of the findings which would help in checking out the sequence quickly. It is an "A"wesome card which could be given to every student. You may choose to print 1 per page or 4 per page. Both printing options are included in this product.

This activity is a great tool for differentiation. It could be used as a review before a quiz or a test on this topic, TASK CARDS, Cooperative Learning, ... et .. It is a great way of "Cooperative Learning". It also could be used as a formative assessment.

In addition to the Scavenger Hunt file, you'll find a recording sheet to be used by students as well as an answer key. Don't forget to check the preview.

This activity includes a suggested STEP-BY-STEP ANSWER KEY as well.

At Home OR Stations Scavenger Hunt OPTION

This is a new strategy that I have been using in my classroom which allows for differentiation. I have included the scavenger hunt in a small size with an organizational bulletin and a small 'A'wesome Card. Students will simply take the scavenger hunt at home and do it instead of a homework or as an extra credit. Please visit the preview to see some pictures of the final product when completed with this option. My students have enjoyed this option and thought it was fun. I hope that your students will love it as well.
