Students practice online information literacy skills navigating the resource and skimming and scanning for information. Can be used an assessment of online navigating/research skills
If you are a librarian and like me you don't have a lot of time with your students, this is a great first introduction to using Scholastic GO. I am able to give a brief introduction and then let the students get their hands on it and see what is there for themselves. This can even be accomplished in a 30 minute lesson, and most students will be able to finish independently. They might even have some time left over to explore Scholastic GO on their own. I typically pair two students on one computer. The next lesson I would follow up with more instruction on navigating and searching, but then they will have some familiarity with it.
IMPORTANT NOTE: A paid subscription for Scholastic GO Online is needed to use this product. In New York State it is free for all libraries through the NYS Library, NOVEL NY program.
