What educators are saying
Description
Sudden emergency school closure creates many feelings for students, families and staff, and this Google Slides™ digital activity will help! This activity helps students process the confusing and often conflicted feelings they experience following a sudden school closure. Children, especially elementary students, need support to process their complex feelings related to this event. They often experience grief at the sudden loss of their school, time with classmates, special events at school, and much more! This is perfect for school counselors, school social workers, school psychologists, teachers, mental health providers, or anyone providing emotional support to children while school is closed.
This digital activity helps students identify and express emotions, identify multiple calming strategies they can use, and provides opportunities for exploration of their emotions to provide emotional closure following the school closing. Through writing prompts, students have the opportunity to "say goodbye" to important people and things related to the closing.
This activity also recognizes the innate resilience of children, and reminds them that they can do hard things!
