Do your students have trouble identifying what a call number is and where they can find it on a book? This set of 30 task cards is perfect for teaching about call numbers. The cards have students explore the fiction and non-fiction sections of the library hunting for popular authors and topics. By the end of this lesson, your students should have no problem identifying a call number and understanding how these call numbers help to organize the library.
The call numbers are all based on the Dewey Decimal System. Some of the numbers I provide on the answer key might slightly differ with the numbers in your library - depending on how you have things cataloged. Ex: graphic novels, I have them listed with their dewey number 741. 5, but you may have them in their own section of the library with a different code.
