Use these elaboration writing task cards for Back to School, return from mid-year break, or any time you review school and classroom rules to teach your students to add a variety of specific details in their writing. This activity is perfect for a center rotation in your writing workshop and can also be used as a whole class lesson.
Each task card provides a topic sentence about a school rule or policy. Students must write in three details that could be used in a paragraph with that topic sentence.
Instructions include these types of details:
• Sensory language (imagery)
• Facts & figures
• Figurative language
