This is a 5-page document created with Microsoft Word and can be edited to suit your needs. Page 1 is a Save the Date invitation for Parents to come to school for a Student-Led Gallery Walk. Page 2 is a sample completed invitation letter explaining what student and parent roles are. Page 3 is a Task Card to celebrate April Earth Day and Recycling with projects and planting. Students will be "teaching" parents and discussion questions are provided. Page 4 is a Task Card for students and families to create a project to take home with them. The activity suggested is for Playdough but this can be adjusted to fit any activity you choose such as painting a family portrait, making a recycled project, creating food, etc. Page 5 is a Task Card for families to view Student Journals/Portfolios/Work Folders and leave comments/feedback on index cards. This will foster communication, encourage praise, promote student glow/grows, and help parents understand what goes on in the classroom for feedback. In May, some schools have a Curriuculum Night to showcase the year-long student work, some schools have Gallery Walks, etc. These cards can be printed on colored cardstock and used for family engagement in fostering a home-school connection. These cards can also be amended to have student Exploration Stations in school for various subjects, topics, centers, projects, and the like.
