This product provides a fun and interactive activity to teach syllables.
Place the heading, “How many syllables?” or “Schoolhouse Syllables!” at the top of your pocket chart, then place the schoolhouse headings underneath the title heading. Place the picture cards facedown, have a student choose a picture card. Then the student will clap out the parts in the word and identify how many parts they hear. Then the student will place the card under the 1-2-3 schoolhouse. Provide students with a syllable mat of your choice.
Differentiation: use the syllable mat to help your students with hearing the number parts of words. You can use yellow pom-pom’s to represent a bus. Have the students place their bus at the start line. Explain to the students you need to help the students go to school, so you have to move the bus to a colored numbered dot according to the number parts they hear in a word.
