Engage your students in meaningful discourse!
The Science Discourse Writing Prompts Pack engages students in thinking, discussing, and analyzing/synthesizing different ideas about science process, physical science, life science, and earth science content. Depending on student needs, these prompts may be used to introduce, summarize, or reinforce concepts.
Although use and methods may vary, each prompt is designed to be used with the Student Response Sheet as students…
1. Think for a minute or two and jot down some brief ideas.
2. Engage in student-to-student discourse, discussing ideas with a partner or small group and recording another student’s ideas.
3. Analyze and synthesize prior knowledge and ideas from other students to write a more formal response.
