PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

In this experiment students will explore how they can use a catapult to transfer potential energy into mechanical energy.

Students will create a simple catapult using both thick and thin rubber bands and plastic milk rings. Students will then compare results to determine whether thick rubber bands or thin rubber bands produce more mechanical energy by examining how far their marshmallow flew using each type of catapult.

This experiment comes with an explanation of potential and mechanical energy and an experiment recording sheet. It also lists suggested extensions for this experiment and needed supplies and steps for constructing catapults.
