Painting Flowers Student Workbook (plants, life cycles, scientific process)

Almost everyone knows about the traditional science experiment of putting a cut flower or a stalk of celery into colored water to watch their colors change. It's a fun and interesting activity for the children to learn about the stems of a plant, however, students lose interest in this activity when they have to repeat it year after year after year. Students crave variety!

This is a one to two week mini-unit about plants, plant parts, and plant life cycles. It takes the knowledge students learn through the colored water experiment and bumps it up a notch.

Instead of plopping a celery stalk or carnation in colored water, they will be growing narcissus flowers straight from the bulbs and watering them daily with colored water.

What will happen? Will the narcissus flowers stay white? Will they take on the color of the water?

This student workbook contains 16 pages in all. Please download the preview to see the complete contents of this file. Many thanks!
