A quick and lemon squeezy science experiment to excite young minds about the world of science! This is a great end of the unit activity to wrap up learning about the different layers of soil.
This is an activity that I keep coming back to year after year, regardless of what grade level I teach. It's fun, it's easy, and the kids LOVE it! I hope your students enjoy observing how the layers of soil appear as they settle as much as mine have.
This quick experiment is simple, fast, and easy - especially if you don't have access to a science lab or extra space for getting messy in your building. All that's required is 3 simple ingredients - a clear jar, water, and some dirt from outside.
These corresponding worksheets are a perfect companion for before, during, and after the experiment. Use one, two, or all three to help your students express your students' scientific ideas.
