Description
This one-week science apple lab engages kids in the scientific method. They ask a question, hypothesize, identify variables for a fair test, measure, observe, record data, graph, and draw conclusions.
To support classroom, hybrid, and distance learning, student resources are available as printable PDFs or shareable TpT Digital Activities. A slideshow with pictures and pre-recorded data is also included for eLearning. Open the preview to learn more.
What's Included:
- 2 pages of lesson plans
- 1 page to list steps in process
- 1 page to record observations
- 1 page of bar graphs (available with or without numbers on the y-axis)
- 1 page line graph (available with or without numbers on the y-axis)
Procedure:
After generating a question and hypothesizing, kids observe and mass three apples each day - whole, halved, and sliced. They record their results in a table. Data are then displayed on bar and line graphs. Finally, students write their results and conclusions.
This simple activity provides just the right amount of complexity for the beginning of the school year. Third grade, fourth grade, and fifth grade students become little scientists!
Enjoy Teaching!
