Students can choose from five experiments to get practice with engaging in the scientific method and to better understand how data can be represented in different graphs. Specific lab reports are provided for each choice.
Choice 1: Which brand of tissue is the strongest? (bar graph)
Choice 2: What will happen to the mass an egg (without its shell) when placed in water and corn syrup? (line graph)
Choice 3: Is there a relationship between a person’s arm span and their height? (scatterplot)
Choice 4: What percentage of people is able to identify Skittle flavors without sight or smell? (pie chart)
Choice 5: Come up with an experiment idea of your own.
